I don't know if I completely agree with your first example. In the case of MSN it has only been around for about a year, and Content for a on line service takes a long time to build up. It would be at least another year before it would be possible to make a realistic comparison between the two. Lotus notes is probably a better example. With its attention moved towards the internet I think "crushing" Lotus Notes is not such a high priority. To do that MS would realistically have to make Exchange better or at least as good as Lotus Notes. To do this which would mean moving resources away from other developments, ie. Internet Explorer, Office 97 etc.
