The point you make about going from telegraph to telephone is very cogent and akin to what George Gilder has been "preaching" about the new Paradigm - The Telecosm...suppose "we" had all tried to analyze Thomas Edison' s "company" at the time of, "Watson come here!"...... What was his p/e ratio (how did it compare to Western Union - the giant in comm. at the time - oh! no! you're still not in WU? How was Edison's book value compared with WU? The point is self evident: LVLT may (stress may - this ain't - at least yet - for "widows and orphans") be a budding PRD (EK didn't want the technology); SYN ( a birth control pill - guffaw); XRX - Kodak didn''t want that one either; Chrysler, F, and GM all turned down a chance to buy into after WW2...(funny looking cars)....
