SOFTQUADs L Wood: Grande DOM of XML...'98 XML Conference

The Golden Rule: S(H)E who owns the gold, Rules...

First, and again, we established the XML site at techstocks.com for the simple reason that XML appears to be, in fact, the most important advancement in computing in twenty years...and accordingly, we created the site 1) as a resource and 2) as a forum for people to exchange opinions on XML...It was made unequivocally clear at this conference that whomever did not XML-enable whatever they were already doing/producing and everything in the future...they simply would become irrelevant....the good news...SoftQuad is one of the leaders in this charge...of particular significance is the fact that at the kick-off 1998 XML Conference keynote speech by Adam Bosworth, Adam requested Peter Sharpe, VP Development, SoftQuad and member of the W3C XML working group, to come on the stage and show [the 1,000+ standing room only attendees] how SoftQuad implemented a real-life XML-enabled application...very simply, the implications of this were and are significant...SoftQuad had a handout available throughout all floors of the conference inviting everyone to attend their booth for a demonstration of this[XML-enabled] application pursuant to their Conference announcement "SoftQuad Announces HoTMetaL Application Server - Powerful New XML-Based, Web Application Tool for Web Developers"...Dr. Lauren Wood, Chairperson, W3C DOM Working Group, presented "The W3C Document Object Model" within the XML:Technical Track...it is also unequivocally clear that the DOM is the glue binding the solution to making the web [literally and truly and elegantly] interactive...and Sharpe, Wood, and SoftQuad are founding, charter members of the working groups literally responsible for the future of the Internet...this is significant...and if it takes pushing 747:The Big One to fund the SoftQuad side in building marginal revenue critical mass...we are for it...as this is clearly where maximization (PVmax) of shareholder value will ultimately be realized...

The Golden Rule: S(H)E who owns the gold, Rules...SoftQuad, viz a viz their impressive grasp of and power within the XML community, is accumulating a significant amount of gold...it is also clear that most likely there will be consolidation/mergers/acquisitions in this area... in the near-term? as everyone esp. Microsoft, sees the handwriting on the wall and acquiring existing XML infrastructure will ultimately prove/have proven to be the wisest short-term strategy...

We didn't see Punk Ziegel, Volpe Brown, nor Yorkton at this most significant event....apparently they took the [IPO] $ and ran in early 1996...we were there and while trading at $.56/share and will remain until the end as we simply believe in these people (while critical), to date, and will continue reporting what we understand as significant...
