because QWST has a real here-now network, ~3500 miles lit today and the entire 16,00 miles lit by Q2'99, and L3 hasn't picked up the shovel yet and won't have their own network completed for years.

to review:

LVLT today has no network, no telecom revenue, is looking at $5+ billion dollars of debt or dilution, and has a market cap of over $11 billion.

QWST and LCI combined: have thousands of miles of lit fiber today, the network is fully paid for; has over a half Billion dollars of signed carrier contracts and combined 1997 telecom revenues of over $1.7 Billion; has a large nationwide sales force, customer care center, and mature billing system; and a market cap of just under $13 billion.

my only point: LVLT is presently grossly overvalued vs. QWST. is QWST overvalued? maybe it is. but LVLT is much worse.
