I have not been responding, but watching and keeping busy at my own pace.... After recently attending a GrantWriting Workshop I have received the following notice which I hope is of some interest to all of us at GRNO.... Hoping someone, aside from me, will do some follow-up and see what and where these types of "interests" may lead.... Also look into other resources who want to do research or have interests in supporting our GRNO...Since this specific program requires non-profit status, GRNO might consider partnering with a California University or other Environmental Org. that is non-profit:

NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY
USED OIL NONPROFIT GRANT
Third Cycle

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) administers a program to provide opportunities for the recycling of used oil. As part of this program, the CIWMB issues grants to nonprofit organization to establish or enhance permanent, sustainable used oil recycling programs. These grants will be awarded on a competitive basis.

FUNDING

Approximately $2.5 million in grant funds will be available for the Third Cycle Used Oil Nonprofit Grant. The grant term is from October 1, 1998 through September 30, 2000.

ELIGIBILITY

Nonprofit entities recognized under section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6), or 501(c)(10) of the Internal Revenue Code may apply for funding to offset the costs of their used oil recycling programs. Applicants must submit a proposal, letter of determination, letters of support, and references following instructions in the application package.

NEW APPLICATION FORMAT

The Third Cycle Use Oil Nonprofit Grant application requires that the applicant:

* Describe previous and ongoing used oil programs and how they relate to the proposed project,

* Demonstrate coordination with local government used oil management programs,

* Specify the targeted population and why it was selected,

* Identify the used oil management need of the targeted population,

* Describe how their proposed project will meet those needs, and

* Evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed project.

Forms, samples, and detailed instructions are included in the application package.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 29, 1998 or hand delivered to the CIWMB's Sacramento Offices by 4:00 p.m. on May 29, 1998.
