Anything else? network card?

SCSI?.....best for multitasking environments

Is the Suprasonic PCI or ISA or do you have a choice?

I am with you on reliability and the IBM drives and Win NT.

The motherboard needs some thought. I doubt that you will notice a performance difference between motherboard options. The complaints about the ABIT LX6 are mostly of the dead on arrival type, but that does raise some concerns. The ASUS PL297 is most often suggested (in the overclocking/performance crowd) as the alternative to the ABIT LX6. The Intel boards are referred to as the most reliable.
The number of ISA and PCI slots you need may be a consideration here. (the INTEL AL440LX has fewer expansion slots...although onboard audio is an option)

I can't see an advantage of PC100 compliant (some RAM is 100Mhz but not PC100 compliant)RAM unless you wait for the BX boards (mid April).
128 MB LX compatible RAM (Corsair) is $357 at ESC and the PC100 compliant RAM is $585. There is most likely no noticeable difference in performance. The only advantage is if you swap motherboards in two years you would be able to use the RAM in a (then outdated) BX motherboard.

For a trading machine which IMO should have reliability as a number 1 consideration, my thoughts for the core configuration are

Windows NT
IBM harddrive (SCSI RAID if you want to "go for it")
Intel motherboard (AL440LX single or DK440LX Dual)
Intel 333 PII (runs cooler)

I am off to see TITANIC
