I'm constantly amazed at the stuff people fall for.

What a hypocritical statement. People, such as yoursef, have fallen for much worse for a very long time and these man-made, man-written and man-dictated gods have to take the prize in that regard. Someday we'll all come to the realization that the ignorant masses who believe in the man-made fairy tales of the Bible, among other literary concoctions, are as much an embarrassment to intelligent life as they are an insult to that which created this magical kingdom we call the universe: the real God.

We have a grossly inflated sense of distance in terms of distancing ourselves from those who fabricated the Bible just a few generations ago. It was fabricated at a time when the mere act of reading and writing gave their transcripted fantasy magical importance. Your mother probably knew somebody who knew somebody who was alive in the 1700s; 2000 years is a drop in the bucket, even on a human scale. The point being, these silly fairy tales have yet to shake themselves out of our culture and when they do we can focus on the far more complex, far more wonderful and far more important search for who we are and how we got here.

That is the journey that our descendants have to look forward to and they will do so having achieved everlasting life in less than, say, 10 or 20 generations hence. Who knows what they will end up discovering in the years ahead. How ironic that those who will virtually live forever are not those who subscribe to that most selfish notion used as a carrot by organized religion, but those who will finally debunk it! In the not-too-distant future, you will look as silly as the stone statue worshipers look to you now.
