In today's papers:

Businesses in the market for high-end personal computers
may face some delays in getting their orders filled, as
heavy demand has temporarily outstripped Intel Corp.'s
ability to supply its newest and fastest processors.

On Thursday, Intel confirmed that it can't meet demand
for the 200 megahertz Pentium Pro processor, used mostly
in ''server'' computers that run networks.

However, the shortage isn't so severe that consumers
will have a hard time finding PCs to buy during the busy
holiday season. People trying to purchase the most
powerful computers they can afford this year might not
find the exact model they want in some stores, but there
should be other models offering similar features. This is
a seasonal occurrence in the PC industry, and the primary
impact apparently will be on businesses, not consumers.

Howard High, a spokesman at Intel headquarters in Santa
Clara, said the company is finding ''a general tightness
across the board'' as demand for PCs outstrips projections
earlier in the year of a relatively flat fourth quarter.

Any predictions for Q4 earnings?
