J, I think analyst make recommendations purely for their own benefit. Why should they care if you buy a certain stock or not? Here are the two situations: 1. If an analyst upgrades, they WANT the the stock to go up for some reason. 2. If an analyst downgrades, they want the stock to go down for whatever reason. This sounds fairly obvious but I don't think enough people realize this. I agree with your post totally. CD
