before we get too carried away with this racist thing, let me make sure you understand that I don't use racism in the same context as Jesse Jackson. To me, it is just human nature, possibly influenced by external forces since birth that we cannot avoid. So don't get all bent out of shape.
Let me give you an example. I have a list of names like David Berstein, Bubba Smith, Leroy Butler, Chang Ho Choi, etc etc. Now I have to choose a team for a math contest and the only thing I know are these names. What do you think the team is going to look like? On the other hand, now I want to choose a team for a basketball tournament. What names do you think I am going to choose? Is this racism? Of course. I am selecting purely based on a stereotype that had been impounded in me.
Now use this example in the Asian Value definition. Holbrooke made some strong and derrogatory statements, harshly attacking the weakness that every country, including the US, goes through during the developing phases. He is out there WARNING other countries. How would you feel if some Japanese official come around telling the US that we better shape up. We better solve our racial problems. We better protect our children so they don't shoot at or get shot by other children. We better stop human rights violations in our jails so that they are not run by racial gangs. We better raise/lower taxes because they know it is right for us. We better stop being the number one polluting country in the world..... or else they won't trade with us.
I really did not know what you do other than the fact that you are in Malaysia. Nothing is directed at you or your company which I know nothing about. My comments are not intended to be sarcastic but rather illustrative, as a rebuttal to your statement regarding "money should make the rule".
We have strayed so far from investments which is my livelihood. Not that I don't enjoy a good debate but we should probably redirect our attention to some very important events next week.
By the way, are you a true ex-pat? In other words, you have given up the US citizenship?
