interesting question- 1000% maybe. Maybe I would have bought Asian stocks and Chilean stocks and gold and lost money. I don't know.
I sold two houses in 1994, I left it in money-market and spent some of the money getting an MBA, and I picked up a house foreclosure in silly valley during the semi stock bear two years ago with some of the money, I probably tripled the basis on the house in two years and it'll be tax-free when I sell it as primary residence. And the MBA was a great investment. I'm not sure if I lost anything by choosing alternate investments. It's easy in hindsight to say "if only I had...". Besides, global stock markets never die, there's always things to buy and sell. Maybe the people who will really lose are the ones cashing out right now. We only know in hindsight.
I find it refreshing to know people who don't know anything about the stock market, spend and enjoy their money, and prefer to keep it that way. -g-
