Hi Paul, it has been a while since my last post here, but after reading the following piece in barron's: ''Man of the Year'' Gets Out While the Getting Is Good interactive.wsj.com I decided to share with you guys. A tiny piece of anecdotal evidence on possible hard times for INTC that came by me just this evening. Whenever I get ready to sell a new car I just dress it up a bit and park it on the stretch of road (Wadsworth st.) that takes you to Sloan. I am always glad to offer students the opportunity of getting into cheap reliable transportation (the car in question being an old Honda Civic). Well, to make a long story short, the graduate student interested in the car is enrolled in a very popular and highly regarded program Called "Leaders for Manufacturing", a five semester program in which students are trained heavily in the manufacturing and business side of things. In the distant past I worked as TA for some of the professors in the program. This made for some lively conversation during the test drive. I also found out that the student was interested in buying a used car to drive across the country and then spend his internship working for INTC somewhere in the West Coast. He mentioned that in the past, (up and until last year) INTC had provided room, board and a set od wheels but this year things where different. I guess a little bit of belt tightening in this environment does no harm to anyone, even INTC:-) Pancho PS: I hold no position in INTC at the present time but IMO the short side looks attractive again...
