Rambus Boasts $1B In RDRAM Market Sales
By Andrew MacLellan

Rambus Inc., Mountain View, Calif., will report today that chips designed using its Base and Concurrent Rambus DRAM and logic technology have exceeded $1 billion in sales. The company, which is developing next-generation Direct Rambus DRAM for use by Intel Corp. in Pentium-powered desktop PCs, licenses its technology on a royalty basis to more than 20 semiconductor companies, including the industry's top 14 DRAM vendors. Rambus attributed the sales growth to the success of the Nintendo 64 game machine, PC graphics subsystems, and a range of communications devices that incorporate Rambus technology.
