re: Intel

The new handheld PCs (using Windows CE) run on non-Intel RISC microprocessors. There are beefed-up "Jupiter" versions coming out in late summer having 640x480 color screens, VGA out, 10-15 hours of battery life, and a lot of other features for under $1000. These devices would satisfy the requirements of a large share of users and have a much lower cost of ownership. For most users, this dumbed-down approach is attractive since they don't store a lot of data or do much more than web browsing and email. For Microsoft it is a win-win scenario, grabbing both the power users and the normal folk. For Intel this could limit their growth.
