New WireMan 2.0e Sets New Standards for Integrated Cable and Network Management Solutions

Atlanta, September 18, 1996 - NHC Communications Inc. has announced the introduction of WireMan 2.0e, its unique, integrated cable and network management solution for medium and large network users. Now, a single Windows-based solution can control both physical cable and logical network elements and allow fault diagnosis, tracing and control to become an integrated function.

WireMan 2.0e builds upon the already established product introduced in late 1995, and adds a range of functions previously unavailable in software products of this type including:

Automated data and CAD file import: In addition to the extensive drawing and data tools in-built, WireMan can now "read in" files electronically from CAD systems such as AutoCAD, data files from Excel, dBase and others;
Enhanced data services: Using its POET-based Object-oriented database, 2.0e features powerful inventory management and graphical search and locate functions;
Pager and Telephony Support: WireMan can now interface, based on alarm threshold, to third party applications including pager and mobile telephone interfaces;
Over 150 improved or new features are released with the new 2.0e version.
"WireMan has been adopted by many organizations in healthcare, federal bodies and in Commercial accounts where its flexibility to control and configure complex cabling environments has been well accepted. The addition of powerful SNMP logical management tools and flexible reporting tools now makes WireMan 2.0e right for small to medium sized businesses with perhaps up to 1000 workstations who would benefit from a single inexpensive system", said Alex Brisbourne, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NHC Communications.

WireMan now integrates more completely with the NHC Communications range of media independent switching systems. Now, under the umbrella architecture Virtual Cross Connect System (VCCS), a user may control, define and deliver a fully automated physical network, anywhere in the world, from his/her Windows workstation.

"We are really confident that WireMan 2.0e is unchallenged in the market. To make this stick, we are giving away 10,000 versions, complete with a full tutorial, on CD-ROM", continued Brisbourne. In this way, potential customers can experience the flexibility of the solutions for themselves".

WireMan CD-ROM 30 day trial for product review is available by contacting NHC Communications at www.nhc.com or (514) 735-2741.

NHC Communications Inc. (TSE sym: NHC) focuses its development and manufacturing in the delivery of a wide range of physical switching, and connectivity fiber optic solutions. Its lines of business include NHC/MuxLab connectivity solutions for the IBM user, Switchex and ShareIt high performance mixed media switching systems and WireMan, an SNMP based network and cable management system, and CityLAN, fiber optic transmission products for metropolitan and major campus networks.
