micny ~ I would most certainly agree that internet fraud is a severe problem esp. on these investment threads. Obviously, some of the responsibility lies with the perpetrator, if not legally then at least morally. The other part of the responsibility lies with the investor that blindly invests without doing their due diligence. Each investor has to determine for themselves how reliable the information presented is. This is not to say that the scam artist should not be held liable, only that each of us as investors have a responsibility to ourselves and our dependants to be as thorough as possible in obtaining our information regarding a particular investment.

The other side of this issue, which I believe is just as rampant and irresponsible, is the people that trash a particular stock or company (sometimes just because an adversary holds that equity) under the guise of being the savior. Probably more times than we realize, these 'saviors' are holding short positions. This is also an obvious form of stock-price manipulation. I believe it will be the next focus of the SEC if it isn't already. I have witnessed innocent investors that were financially hurt by being 'scared' out of a valid investment. I'm not sure of what the legal consequences
are for this but I know that it violates every moral law in the book. There are two possible solutions for this. One, kill the bastards. Two, each investor be armed with sufficient knowledge (research) that they are not swayed by those with questionable agendas. ~ Jack
