Bob,>>>PCs will no longer be the dominant Internet access device. As early as 2001, non-PCs - information appliances, network computers, WebTV, gaming consoles, etc. - will represent nearly half of all Web access devices shipped in the U.S., up from four percent today, and nearly 80 percent of all PCs shipped in the U.S. will be priced under $1,500.<<<
That is what makes a market. That is the bet. I do not believe that it is a slam dunk that all PC's will be used for surfing the Internet and used for playing simple card games. Overlooked in all these reports is the lack of awareness that business purchases dwarf consumer purchases of PC's.
The reports are always about people "surfing the 'net", grandmother's emailing to grandchildren, and grandchildren playing simple games. Nowhere do we get a picture of the business world maintaining inventory, tracking sales, processing orders, data mining, warehousing, modeling, optimization and forecasting. Or even of kids playing games that are heavily graphics oriented, with 3D sound, and streaming video.
Anyhow the lines are clearly drawn. Make your investments. May the better investment win.
