Matrox vs Number Nine vs Diamond ,......ATI wins?

CraigBuxton's Question

>>I'm looking to buy a new video card for my system, and wondered which one I should get. I'm comparing the Matrox Millennium 2, the Number Nine Revolution 3D, and the Diamond FireGL 1000 Pro - all AGP, 8MB. Which of these would be the fastest for 2D performance. I will buy a Voodoo2 for 3D. Thanks.

Chris Pimlott's Response

You may also want to consider the ATI All-In-Wonder card. While not the fastest 2D, it does have good performance and tons of nice bells and whistles - TV in and out, video capture, DVD decoding, and decent in-window 3D acceleration. In addition, it's one of the few AGP cards out that uses 2x instead of just using AGP as a faster bus.

Thomas Drechsler's Response

The ATI card is actually called All in Wonder PRO. It's a great card and I can't SEE any difference between it and a MGA MIL2. The picture is razor sharp (Hello RIVA chips..) and the TV in is as good as the WinTV's. The 3D feature is not as good as a VooDoo 1 but lightyears better then the MIL2's. But if you're buying a VooDoo 2 that not a downside. There REAL OpenGL (ICD) drivers under development and the price is also OK. I'm using this card since 4 weeks and neve thought about swapping in my good old MIL2.<<
