Alcatel just announced their webphone, and it looks way better than iPhone, judging from the full-page ad in SF Chronicle today. Link: biz.yahoo.com Alcatel's looks much more elegant, has built-in smartcard reader, larger pop-out keyboard, color touchscreen, and is based on Sun's PersonalJava. Planned U.S. introduction summer 1998. Looks like a killer product. Cidco better get going with improvements or Alcatel may hurt iPhone sales big time.
