Emile, if Jesus were the only cure for man's fallen and sinful nature, people would be a lot healthier, wouldn't they? Including you!! When I read your posts, I see a hateful, cruel, ignorant racist. Certainly you are no advertisement for converting to Christianity.
Can you tell me why those children were murdered in Jonesboro? Did you know that the older child of the two killers was a devout Christian, who sung in the church choir. The night before the murders, he and the rest of the choir went to an old folks' home to sing to them. After the murders, he asked for a Bible, to read the scriptures.
Or let's take the Catholics in Europe during World War II, briefly. U.S. News and World Report had a fascinating story about the investigation into whether huge amounts of gold dripping with blood, symbolically speaking, ended up at the Vatican. The Church is stonewalling!! And the article discusses particular priests who seem to have been thugs, and murderers, really. Were these Christian acts? You would think if Christianity was completely a positive force, these religious figures would have acted a little more kindly, no?

Even though there are many wonderful people who are Christians, it is not the answer to the earth's problems, and as an historical force, has resulted in millions of deaths. The real key to people being healthy, and doing good things instead of sinful, or bad, ones, is that they had strong, healthy attachments to their parents when they were very little, and strong, interested adult supervision later, with teaching of good values, mostly by example. Parents who are not Christians are very capable of doing this, as I know from observing my own parenting skills, and those of my friends, and many Christian parents are not, particularly the more authoritarian ones who beat their children and are very strict disciplinarians, because children rebel against being treated harshly and without compassion, and turn out exactly as you would NOT want them to.
In regard to your comments about psychology, it is true that various schools of thought have developed and evolved historically. So what? As more is known about how human beings develop and grow, new knowledge simply improves this discipline. Children who are mentally disturbed, and families that are broken, benefit greatly with the intervention of a skilled family therapist. It is too bad more people do not seek this kind of help, because it is an act of love, and isn't that what Christianity is supposed to be about, also? It would be difficult to conclude that from your posts. |
