Well yeah, but it's a matter of frequency and degree. Take your David Koresh, Jim Jones or what have you and think back about twenty or so generations. A charismatic religious figure gets nailed to the cross and his followers are left having to explain how the miracle worker just so happens to be nothing more than a polished philosopher who's run out of tricks or [light comes on] we tell people he meant to do that. Christianity is a historically interesting subject but then so are Islam and Buddhism. The difference here is that it's an industry whose basic premise, the slaughter and the potential for more slaughter notwithstanding, is a healthy one. Sadly, it's also a very dangerous practice to believe in fairy tales as we have seen so often in the past. They can justify everything and anything in the name of their phoney, man-made cause.
