Tarter and Computer Retail Week, continued.

In Re: Clean & Protect, TurboFind, Our Family Tree...

"...Many utilities vendors, including Quarterdeck, Computer Associates and Network Associates, have launched net-to-zero deals on their retail offerings, giving their products away for free to retain or build market share. CyberMedia, a leading utilities vendor, recently revised its fourth-quarter 1997 results, announcing earnings would be less than half of those reported in the same period of 1996 because of inventory imbalances..."

...we were concerned with all these products out of the gate as cited on this thread...what was management possibly thinking?!...SoftQuad had the same Board, including Tarter and the same management, when they laid out their optimal strategic marketing plan to produce these products...now Tarter is pontificating The World According to Tarter...what is THAT all about?...it appears the shareholders require a 3rd reorganization of both the Board and management...we can understand why the WebFiler division was recently upset...their senior management and Board supported/engaged in a negligently poor marketing campaign for WebFiler incurring priceless and irreversible lost opportunity costs incl shareholder value destruction and negligently engaged in misguided non-WebFiler/HoTMetaL-centric software publishing campaigns...management and the Board of Directors of (NASDAQ:SWEBF) (TSE:SKI) have run out of their 'self-imposed' reorg's as far as we are concerned...SoftQuad, simply has not proved they nor Alpha are anything more than essentially [and allegedly] a good R&D thinktank for and pimped by Microsoft viz a viz w3C.org, white papers, and accordant proprietary conceived [and lifted?] technologies, etc., at the expense of SoftQuad shareholder value and the self-aggrandizement of certain SoftQuad employees/management/DIrectors contemporaneous with massive shareholder value destruction ...this is exactly what history will show in the event something SUBSTANTIAL does not immediately occur, in our opinion...we are optimistic about what SoftQuad is doing with XML, HOWEVER, so was Punk Ziegel, Volpy Brown and Yorkton when SoftQuad was trading at $10, when SoftQuad released HoTMetaL 2.0, when they announced HiP in Sep 1996, when they announced HoTMetaL Light 3.0 being included on Microsoft's Site Builder CD in July 1996, when they bundled HoTMetaL Light with SunSoft's Solaris in July 1996, when they announced HiP Viewer shipping with Microsoft Internet Explorer in October 1996...unfortunately, history poignantly is indicating/confirming? SoftQuad may have perceived their IPO as nothing more than an academic grant, given their pathetic [retail sales/market share] track record with HoTMetaL and subsequently with WebFiler...and of course, clean & protect, powercleaner, ...enough with the white papers or else our shares will be Microsoft's [and SWEBFs shareholder's] toilet paper...
