SI, you're a "cash basis" business, probably a sole proprietor given your brief description. Corporations cannot use that method - they must use the accrual method so when the cash is received has no bearing on the matter of when the revenue is recorded. Once the sale is recognized it becomes a revenue item and the contra side is an increase in Accounts Receivable.

Thus, A/R in December stemmed from sales already recognized as such.

Now if you said a lot of the EXCESS INVENTORY at quarter end would show up in revenues in the first quarter I'd have no argument with you because management has already said that the OEM stuff was being worked down by repackaging and selling it in the 1st Q.
