Joe, I assume by the earlier time that you mean 1929. If so, the reasons for ignoring it has two factors: 1. There are very few folks around who are old enough to have invested through this period while there are plenty who got pounded by 1973-1974. 2. The Great Depression was so bad that even the nastiest bear hopes that doesn't happen again. But, yes, the current environment looks a lot more like 1929 than 1972. Yuck! See you at the soup lines.
