IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1998--

Epoch Internet introduces TSpeed The xDSL alternative to dial-up

Internet connections delivering fast T1 speeds for only $35 a

seat

Epoch Internet, a national Internet solutions provider, Monday announced their newest Internet access offering TSpeed providing dedicated access at speeds from 144 kbps to as high as 1500 kbps (1.5Mbps) at a price competitive with dial-up Internet service.

TSpeed will change the way businesses think about obtaining high-speed Internet access and will virtually kill off the need for multiple slow, unreliable analog and ISDN dial-up connections. TSpeed provides a convenient and affordable way to maintain full-time Internet connections without having to pay for more expensive high-bandwidth connections.

TSpeed -- The Paradigm Shifts Once More

Less than six months ago, Epoch hit the mark with the dawning of their "metered" access service, breaking the barriers of entry into high-bandwidth Internet access for businesses of all sizes. With the success of the "pay-for-what-you-use" metered model, Epoch is once again pioneering the market by offering "pay-per-seat" dedicated "always-on" Internet service.

TSpeed appeals to businesses that can no longer tolerate the inherent instability associated with multiple on-again/off-again dial-up connections in their office, or who previously could not afford the investment of a dedicated line. "To be a business winner, it's no longer enough to have a presence on the Internet, it's about having and maintaining a professional presence," said Edward Stern, director of Marketing for Epoch Internet.

"Epoch was the first to offer metered Internet Service, which broke the pricing paradigm. Now with TSpeed we're doing it again," said Stern. "We're meeting our goal of removing the barriers of cost and complexity for businesses who know the importance of a professional Internet presence."

The Professional Presence Package

TSpeed can be purchased in two forms, both providing direct access to the Internet and Epoch's nationwide private network. TSpeed Single connects a single user, (such as a home-based worker) and TSpeed LAN connects three or more workstations on an existing TCP/IP local area network, saving the expense and hassle of multiple dial-up accounts and phone lines. Both services offer to dedicated "always on" Internet service at T1 speeds up to 1.5 Mbps.

Companies can initially connect a few seats to the Internet and can easily add on access as business needs grow. Epoch fully manages the task of adding new seats and configuring E-mail boxes without any interruption to the user's connectivity. There is a three-seat minimum and after the tenth seat, the $35 setup fee is waived. Each installed TSpeed seat gets a feature-packed set of capabilities that includes:

-- Dedicated access at 144 kbps to 1.5Mbps
-- E-mail address for each workstation
-- Domain Name Registration (yourcompany.com)
-- Free Web site set-up
-- Activation of the service
-- Software package including Internet Explorer 4.0 & Outlook
Express
-- 24 x 7 free Customer Support
-- Complete installation including standard in-house wire
-- Use of all necessary equipment

TSpeed + DSL Technology = Fast, Affordable Internet

TSpeed takes advantage of the latest powerful Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology and an exclusive pricing and service plan. DSL technology reduces the cost of the local loop telecommunications service, which typically costs $400 to $800 per month. For as little as $35 a month, per seat, plus monthly LEC fees as low as $95, TSpeed delivers the most convenient way to get fast permanent connections at easily affordable monthly rates.

Using TSpeed and DSL service, companies will be able to use the Internet at speeds 50 times faster then dial-up Internet service for a comparable price, effectively killing the need for any business to even consider dial-up as true business choice.

Blasting Speeds for the Bay Area

Northern California will be the first of many geographical regions where Epoch will offer TSpeed via DSL transport. TSpeed is currently available to businesses in select areas within the San Francisco Bay Area including: Atherton, Cupertino, East Palo Alto, Fremont, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Francisco, San Mateo, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga, and Sunnyvale. Users can search area codes for service availability by going to eni.net. Further nationwide expansions are planned for every quarter this year.
