Hello B. OFF Topic

You asked me a question on how your investing could be influenced by
EMU. In today's WSJ there are 2 articles that answer this quite well.

Page A13 -- Society General Shares Rise - on talk of consolidation of
european banking. There are certain to be significant longterm benefits
to the banking structure of europe. There must be a mutual fund that is
tuned into this prospect for capital return.

Page C1 -- European Stocks Jump on Euro Euphoria - Since January 98
Portugal is up 47% - Italy up 43% - Spain up 40% - Finland 31% - etc.
Here again....by being aware of the Macro economic opportunities, one
can participate in speculation. In principle it is not so different then
waiting for SIR to find gas....there's speculation cycles and then
fundamental growth cycles if something is for real.

I would expect this ECU speculation to continue until shortly after the
EMI meeting some time in May and then sell-off on profit taking. Then
go forward in a slow progression of growth spurts. By being positioned
early you could take advantaage of both the speculation and the long-term
prospect of a powerful emerging economic condition.

Here again there must be mutual funds for the beginning investor. I
would also check out any available WEBS for these foreign indexs and
also individual ADRs' for companies. If you type WEBS into the search
box at the bottom of this page you will be rewarded.

This is *not* a recomendation to purchase anything, but an example of
early investing in speculative and perhaps rewarding shifts in world
economics. BWDIK
