A clarification: I don't think LEAF is a major problem for Spectran and is not the cause of its stock's downward price movement. Similar fiber to LEAF (i.e. NZDF) has been available for the past year or two. Spectran's sales are mostly in multimode fiber which does not compete at all with NZDF. As far as single mode fiber, the large majority of worldwide sales are still in regular standard single mode (1310) or dispersion shifted fiber (1550).
