Everything you say is, IMO, true.

If indeed ONLY the CEO is getting incented, the plan is most
likely doomed to failure. Every stock option/incentive plan I've
seen included other officers. Most include other managers and specialized staff. I'm also reminded of Chryslers plan. Over
here in Fenton, MO a couple years back, (I do not remember which
year off hand), the employees received a couple thousand per
person as part of the Chrysler profit-sharing plan. Not just the
suits, either. I know one guy who puts wheels on , he got it.

I've worked both sides of the fence. I've been a card carrying
union laborer, and an officer in a corporation. I can tell you
that everyone has a job to do and NOBODY is indispensible.

The "typical" incentive plan rewards based on salary/service. This
makes them top heavy by default. Is it fair? No. Did my mother
EVER tell me life was fair? No, she did not. <g>
