Here's a comparison of ESV with some other drillers based on
their expected 1Q earnings and the impact on trailing 12 month
earnings and PE's. The estimates are based on data from the WSRN
site which uses Nelson's consensus figures. I've listed the trailing
12 month earnings and current PE, the amount and percentage increase
of sequential earnings gain expected this quarter, the estimated
"post 1Q" 12 month earnings and PE.

Comp Pric Tr12m TrPER Incr %Incr 1Q12m 1QPER
ESV 29.3 $1.64 17.9x +.30 +18.3% $1.94 15.1x
RIG 53.3 $1.38 32.5x +.32 +23.2% $1.70 31.3x
MDCO 22.3 $1.11 20.1x +.14 +12.6% $1.25 17.8x
NE 32.0 $1.03 31.1x +.20 +19.4% $1.23 26.0x
DO 46.6 $1.93 24.2x +.26 +13.4% $2.19 21.3x
SDC 38.8 $1.92 20.2x +.36 +18.8% $2.28 17.0x

IMO, the high sequential growth and low PE should give ESV a
lift around the time of earnings announcements--if not before.
