On the non hype front...From today's Washington Post, Sylvan Learning Centers and MCI announce a joint venture to open 50 interactive learning centers across the country by June 1997 that will use real-time video conferencing and computer technology. Each new center will feature a 36 seat classroom equipped with two-way video cameras, etc. etc. Sylvan notw signed any agreements yet with any universities or corps. for the centers yet. Decided to jt venture with MCI cause they have satellite tech for real-time education. MCI invested $10 million for a minority stake in project and gave SLyvan $20 millionline of credit. So, i wonder who is going to get orders for video-conf equipment? Anyone know anyone with Sylvan Learning Centers. They are based in Columbia MD not far from here in DC.
