As I said in my two following posts after my initial comments, perhaps I misunderstood the intention of this thread. I did not want to get into an argument with anyone. Like you, I wanted to express an opinion based on factual information. I would never have posted on a guess or a mere unfounded accusation. However, since you challenged me to find evidence, I did not have to look far. The introduction and agenda of the thread spoke volumes as to what the intention was. It seems to have evolved from the initial start, and your indication of "recent posts" or "regulars" may or may not prove your point, but that restriction is short sighted. A discussion like this invites the people I spoke of to visit and feel welcome. I am sure I would be able to find more, but I believe the following is sufficient. Here is the evidence you adamantly require from the introduction: "How many times have you seen incorrect grammatical constructions/spelling errors on SI that set your teeth on edge? That tempted you to send a rude note to the offender(s)? "

"Conversely: how many times have you posted a message, wondering whether the way you are expressing yourself may actually sabotage what you are trying to express?"

"This thread is devoted to detailing & discussing common irritating errors, with the hope of eradicating them once and for all."
----------
Point: If grammatical constructions/spelling errors on SI set your teeth on edge, that most certainly affects one's understanding of the author, doesn't it?

Point: "Tempted you to send a note a rude note to the offender(s)" clearly shows a kind, constructive, attempt to understand the author in the spirit of communication. [I am being sarcastic]

Point: "This thread is devoted to detailing & discussion common irritating errors". The fact that minor grammatical mistakes irritate, apparently affects comprehension to some people on this thread.

I did not have to stretch my imagination to come to the conclusions that I did. If you feel the writing "says as much about the author..." then it does affect your comprehension. The fact that "Your totally wrong, Sowbug" affects your opinion of the author is an attempt to "improve your opinion of yourself". The fact that you compare your writing skills to another person with contempt is EXACTLY my point. That comparison does make you feel superior, instead of accepting the writing skill of the author, you "look down on it" with disgust. Also, "You are bringing excess baggage with you to our thread" was intended as a welcome by you, not to "insult" as plain English and semantics indicates. Perhaps, if you chose the words, "I believe you may have misunderstood the intention of the thread" it would have been constructive and in the spirit of the thread you described. It is easy to tell that you are quite irritated by my post. I think the "baggage" comment does say a lot about the author, and perhaps you have missed the point of the thread that you vehemently defend as an honorable one. Don't be a hypocrite. If you make a statement, then contradict yourself later on in your post, it does not instill confidence in your opinion. Your point about "recent posts" and "regulars" is a microscopic view that you chose to attempt to prove your point. It does not in the least. I don't need to look for more evidence of proof as I am sure I could find it. Perhaps, you were the kind of person I was referring to, because you certainly have proven it. I had two previous responses to my post and none were offensive or demeaning, but intended to clarify their purpose here. Yours, however, was exactly what I was talking about. I appreciate your post because it helps prove what I am talking about. Here is a link that shows examples of what I was referring to.

Surprise, it is you a "recent post" and a "regular" on this thread. Thanks for proving my point.
