SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 1998--Faroudja Inc. FDJA Monday announced
that its Video Solutions 30 Hz Format
Translator from Faroudja's line of digital TV processors has been purchased by the Fox Broadcasting Co.
as part of a system that has been
designed by Fox Broadcasting to prepare for the new Federal Communications Commission digital
broadcast television service. Fox
Broadcasting is an operating company of News Corporation Ltd. NWS . Fox Broadcasting worked
exclusively with Faroudja in the development
of an interlaced-to-progressive translation system. "We think that Faroudja has key enabling technology
that allows us to implement our
480p/30 Hz strategy," noted Andrew G. Setos, executive president of the News Technology Group. Setos
is responsible for the engineering and
operations of the Fox Broadcasting Co. "The Faroudja 30 Hz Format Translator will enable us to
seamlessly intercut interlaced content, such
as archive materials and news feeds, with progressive content," he continued. "The most sweeping change
in the history of television is about
to begin, as a result of the new mandates for DTV/HDTV television broadcast in this country," commented
Mike Moone, president and chief
executive officer of Faroudja. "Anticipating this, Faroudja is offering broadcasters a range of products that
utilize the company's patented
technology to deliver HDTV-quality video images. The Faroudja Video Solutions line of digital TV

Hz Format Translator for FOX Broadcasting Co. can be seen at the Faroudja Labs booth, No. M5838,
Sands Expo, as well as at the FOX
location at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, April 6-9. Faroudja
