The news about shipment of the C6+ looks very very encouraging. Glen Henry had said a couple of months ago that IDTI had pretty well finished design work on their own version of MMX2 instructions but that they would cooperate with AMD to use a common instruction set instead. This was said to be a minor change but I didn't know if it would delay the ability to ship parts by much. A mid May shipping schedule would significantly beat Cyrix/NSM to market and should be right in line with AMD's expected roll out. This is, of course, way ahead of Intel's planned intro of their MMX2 parts.

I'm not surprised to hear that sales of the C6 have been going well - when you are only producing about 125,000 per quarter and selling them for $70 they should find their way into enough people's hands.

I'm looking forward to getting a C6+ myself. This will be the first time that IDTI will be riding the main wave of a new uP product cycle. That could result in a lot more enthusiasm for parts and higher ASPs.
