I musta goofed in my first post, not unusual for me. It was indeed to be a 200 mpg engine for a full-sized auto. I don't know the specifics of the design, as I wasn't in that particular class, and for purely academic reasons it was a fairly hush-hush project.

I too like the idea of electric cars. My idea is that instead of or in addition gasoline stations, one could trade the electric car's batteries off to be recharged for the next motorist. I wonder also if there would not be just as much pollution caused by electric cars as by those powered by internal combustion engines, only a different kind of pollution.
