Do you work in a science-related field? It is just I appreciate your reference to rate of speed. What do you think of the phrase: "Is your glass half empty or half full?"

Yes, software development is my profession/vocation. My dad, who's to credit (or blame) for identifying the "rate of speed" issue, is a former aeronautical engineer, now physician. None of that has to do with the genesis of the reference, though: my dad gets speeding tickets, and his only consolation is that the cop testifying against him in court is using redundant terms (which, in a nice, poetic, seredipital way brings us full circle to your original complaint about the need of some people to judge their self-worth by others' verbal abilities).

I have never known what to think about the half-empty/half-full question. I suppose the most neutral way to put it is "the glass' emptiness equals its fullness." No, wait, it should be "the glass' fullness equals its emptiness." ;)
