Good article for "patient" SUN investors, such as myself. No new info, as far as SUN's current business; however, it is good to know that influential analysts such as Kunstler (who is for SUNW what Sherlund is for MSFT, is still a big bull at this late stage of the quarter). In terms of getting the info out, I wish the article had focused some more on SUN's successes aganist HP, SGI, DEC, IBM on the server and systems side.
For those of you (Byron, Kal, Addi, etc) who consider moving in and out of stocks (from time to time) based on perception about valuations (to be fair to you guys, I would not use a strong term such as "market timing" which iIMO is more short term, there is an interesting article in the San Fran Chronicle today - "It is 'almost' never a good idea to sell stocks". Has an interesting quote from Peter Lynch -
"Far more money has been lost by investors in trying to prepare for market corrections than in corrections themselves"
The only time it makes sense to sell the stock is if the reasons that you invested in the Co are have changed, such as mgt., products, comp adv, regulatory environment, etc.
Just my 2 cents. (With my sense of timing, the market will probably tank tomorrow and everybody will trash me for rationalizing the Buy and Hold theory).
