This is a deeply divisive issue in the Church.
If you are a person who loves another person who is the same physical sex as you, then according to some that makes you the biblical equivalent of a child molester. If you know a homosexual person who isn't a child molester then you would have reason to protest. Shalom implies that non-Christians are with him on this, if the Methodists (Mainstream Protestant) are so divided, what about the people who don't go to Church at all, do you think that they view homosexuality as the biblical equivalent of murder. My guess is this, if you are a non-practicing Christian, the decent respectable civilized kind, then you probably find most religious people pompous mouthpieces, and you probably know some homosexual people who are like you, decent, respectable civilized.
My mom sometimes says this : "Christ would get down off his cross."
She learned this in a religious institute when she was young. She responded this way when she learned about the Mount Cashel Orphanage incident.
There is no biblical equivalency at all, apparently, some people would dare to say that homosexuals who accept Christ just have to give up "you know" because, well well, God says so.
