Stitch An update, the MD you referenced in one of your earlier posts had further experience with the Board Member yesterday. The individual arrived at work to find a 'new employee' waiting for him. A BUMI engineer. The MD didn't have a clue as to who this fellow was or who had hired him. A little investigation revealed that this engineer was hired by the Board Member because he is a close associate of another engineer who has budgetary control over a rather large project involving $100ks to the MD's company. Mind you there is no chicanery here, but it was mentioned that both the engineers and their families had never been to the states and "don't we have a training facility near Disney Land or one of those other fun parks?" Yes this is the same Board Member that 'cancelled' the hire of the Chinese Mfg engineer since this engineer didn't know the importance of the JV. It is also the same Board Member who, upon meeting the MD for the first time, started the conversation with "since you've been in Malaysia before I assume you know how to do business the ASIAN way?" Dont' mean to jump into the middle of your discussion with Ramsey but maybe you should forward to him some of the laws regarding the Bumiputra status and its effect on ALL areas of life and working in Malaysia. Racism WITHIN the Asian community, and its promotion is more debilitating (to me) than any of us Maht Sallies comments on it could ever be. Regards bt PS: The chinese engineer is currently in Kulim performing exactly as intended. ;-)
