Christine, why don't you go down to your local food bank soon and volunteer for a few hours. Then give us your impressions.

Last time I did, about 3 months ago, I was astonished to find most of the recipients had newer and more expensive cars than my 88 Honda Civic. As a matter of fact, my car was the clunker in the parking lot for most of the day. :-)

One guy, actually had the gall to pull up in a brand new car, sticker and all, and fill his car up with free food.

Seriously, try it when you get a chance. I would like to know if San Francisco is any different.

Here, all that is required to shop at the local food bank is that you live in the school district.
