MediaX Launches New Web Site and Enters IntoSecure Electronic On-Line Sales March 31, 1998 08:29 AM
CULVER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1998--MediaX Corp. MXMX Tuesday announced that it has launched a completely new state-of-the-art Web site to allow better access to vital company information and to a variety of product offerings for its increasing customer and investor base.
This new Web site also features a secure on-line store selling MediaX's products online.
MediaX is currently offering two of its products for sale online: "Peter Norton PC Guru" and "On The Road with B.B. King." Customers can order products online, pay via a secure credit-card transaction and have the boxed product shipped to them.
"The MediaX Web site and on-line store represents a radical new Web site design and incorporates the latest in graphics technology, providing unprecedented graphic quality at any display resolution. The site will fully utilize any display size from 14 to 21 inches, while maintaining crystal-clear lines, curves, text and images, unlike the blocky, pixellated sites typically published on the Web, even by large corporations.
"The MediaX Flash site shows today what the future of the Web will look like. Despite the full-color, high-resolution graphics used in the MediaX site, the download times are still extremely fast.
"The ultra-compact mathematical graphics representation (Flash) used by MediaX achieves compression ratios far beyond that of competing graphics solutions, while full motion and full-screen animations are used throughout the site. Animations and downloads are executed at high speeds even if connected via a regular modem," stated Matthew MacLaurin, executive vice president of MediaX.
By using emerging standards like Internet Explorer and Flash, the MediaX Web site guarantees compatibility with and maximum exploitation of quickly rising platforms such as WebTV and WindowsCE-based set-top boxes.
Nancy Poertner, president, stated: "Our commerce site uses the latest SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to ensure that all credit card and personal information is transmitted in absolute security. The site is hosted at the San Jose TABNet 'gigacenter' -- the fastest Internet uplink point on the planet. (See www.tabnet.com for details)
"The MediaX commerce site, along with our separate PC Guru support and PC Guru upgrade site, provides the equivalent of multiple T-3 lines for maximum bandwidths and speed. The combination of MediaX's experience in real-time 3-D graphics development and the reliability and speed of TABNet's 'gigacenter' will make this a leading-edge Web site and on-line store within the industry.
"We expect the site to contribute considerably to MediaX's revenue flow within a relatively short period of time."
