Yes, Intel has good, no, great yields. Only IBM has comparable yields. My source? Computer Element Workshops and other seminars I have attended, at which computer and chip design, manufacturability testability, reliability and other subjects are discussed by engineers from IBM, Intel, TI, Fujitsu, Hitachi, NEC, Lucent, and other companies that make computers and/or chips. IBM and Intel people are particularly open when discussing even their own reliability and yields, more so than, e.g., the Japanese companies. Why shouldn't they be open, no-one can touch them.
