Earned - I like your analysis of the basher syndrome. Another category of bashers may be those who have pent-up hostility in general and want to let it out wherever they can. Maria may be one of these. As we know from the news (if nothing else) there is considerable frustration and anger in a growing number of the population (for good reason, in many cases), and it comes out in a variety of ways, sometimes tragic and sometimes goofy and irrelevant. Perhaps the Internet is a kind of free therapy for some of these people or at least a release valve.
