ALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 31, 1998--Applied Innovation Inc. (Nasdaq: AINN) Tuesday announced the availability of SS7 signaling on their Remote Access Server, the AI 4800, the first in a series of DSAM (Data Services Access Mutliplexer) products designed to relieve telephone voice network congestion.
The AI 4800 is a central office-based system that offloads Internet data traffic from the public switched telephone network (PSTN) onto a backbone data network. It is the first product of its kind to utilize SS7 signaling in its basic design and to have its SS7 capability already fully tested.

Recently, the AI 4800 passed a battery of SS7 compliance tests from the independent lab testing services of Tekelec, a telecommunications firm specializing in STPs.
Further SS7 compliance testing of the AI 4800 has been successfully completed in two RBOC laboratories. The lab tests used relevant of ANSI, ITU and Bellcore conformance standards.
The AI 4800 is part of a total solution set designed by the Access Products Group of Applied Innovation Inc. to provide a full range of services to CLECs, ILECs, CAPs and ISPs to alleviate congestion and data management problems on the PSTN.
Through utilization of the AI 4800, dynamic call routing and setup, collection of traffic and ISP specific data, efficient trunk usage and revenue-generating services for telcos and other carriers is available.
