Burt - Re: "Never happy to see negative news for Intel, but this might be a rough quarter for INTC. We'll know more after the cc."

Turn your calendar back exactly one year.

AMD's stock was zooming because they had the Intel Killer K6 - Intel's stock was rapidly declining because everyone new AMD had a better chip, better technology, and better production capability.

And where are we now?

People are PRAYING that the AMD rumors of improved yields are true.

And what if they are not true, or not "completely" true?

Look at the current pricing - AMD will be getting <$150 for their best chips - far below the $469 that they were expecting to get 1 year ago for the 233 MHz K6.

If Intel gets real aggressive and drives the Celeron price down quickly to $100, the top of the line K6 will go there as well.

And Intel has the real Pentium II at clock speeds of 300, 333, 350 and 400 MHz to generate the real profits.
