Mark...
I'm sure there are others here who could enlighten you about the usefulness of OT for futures trading. As I said in an earlier post, I don't see how it would be that great, but, it's being used.
You said you've never traded a day in your life. Far be it from me to tell you what to do, but if it were me, I WOULD NOT start with futures. I've done this myself, with only moderate success. They can move extremely fast and you can find yourself in trouble with them before you even realize it. Stick your toe in the water with some stocks first. Just to test your emotional stability with real time trading.
Since I've put on my "advisor" hat, my suggestion would be to test your TA talents with stocks. Paper trade (if you haven't been doing so already). Especially, if you're just starting with OT, I think paper trading would be extremely wise. You will need time to get used to the program, your interpretation of its signals and a myriad of other "things" that will boggle your mind.
I can't remember (it's been a couple of years since I last used OT) if it used fundamental data, or not. I don't think so. You mentioned OBV and it does use that.
I can't help you much (if at all) with OT, but perhaps I can help a little with some thoughts on trading. Been doin' it a while <G>. BTW, most people who have traded the MIDAM complain about very poor fills. It's attractive because of the smaller margins, but that doesn't assure the best trading environment.
All of this is JMHO!
