Ok, all you fledgeling S&P500 Index Fund manager wannabe's...
You get news that NXTL is going to be added to the S&P close of business tomorrow. You quickly figger how many shares you need to buy based on the weighting, your fund size and all that and make a plan for buying it.

Do you figger you need it fully completed by close of business today? With NXTL in the index with the open tomorrow?

If so, do you buy your shares early in the day before the price runs up even more?

Do you buy near the end of the day so you get them at a price as close as possible to their weighting as they enter the index?

Buy some at the beginning of the day and some at the end to amoritize the cost?

Buy it all along the way today a thousand shares or so at a time?

Not worry about the final accurate weighting for about a week?

What about that quarterly report (card) you need to submit after COB today?

Thoughts?? How about you accountants (Al) out there??

Kevin
