C&W reportedly set to sell Bouygues, Mobile Telephone, PLD Telekom stakes

LONDON, AFX-ASIA via NewsEdge Corporation : Cable and Wireless PLC is set to sell its interests in France's Bouygues Telecom and Russia's PLD Telekom as part of the continued restructuring of its business portfolio, press reports said.
The Observer newspaper, without citing sources, said C&W is close to selling its 20 pct stake in Bouygues Telecom for more than 600 mln stg. Telecom Italia and Airtouch are also both interested in the stake, the newspaper added.
It said C&W is finalising a deal to sell its 25 pct interest in South African mobile phone company Mobile Telephone Networks for around 260 mln stg.
Separately, The Sunday Telegraph said C&W is set to sell its 32 pct stake in PLD Telekom, which owns Peterstar, Becet and Teleport, to News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch for 85-90 mln usd. |
