It was a free babysitting program for them and there is no justification that I can see for our feeding the children of people who made more than my parents and whose education level was higher than that of the teachers.

If they were college professors in the mid-sixties I very much doubt whether they made more than your parents, unless your parents were manual laborers. One of the things that struck me most (but unfortunately in retrospect, or I'd have chosen a different career) about teachers at Wellesley was how damned POOR they were.
