Tons of news out on Hudson. 1997 stunk, and they seemed to have heaped it on during the 4th quarter, writing off goodwill. The stark reality is that they lost 16 million on 23 million of sales. Almost 10 million was non-cash which is mildly redeeming. I think the lawsuit certainly contributed to the taking of any conceivable loss in the current period so as not to be accused of painting a rosy picture or carrying assets at inflated values. A side benefit of such good conservative accounting, if you anticipate a future profit, is some loss carry-forward. Hopefully, that is part of the picture. The Company also named a new president and a new COO. Apparently the family guy (Zubige) is a better scientist than manager. The new managers sound like they are coming from some of the institutional ownership. I think this news was available early in the day and the stock didn't react. If it survives April Fool's day then this must be the bottom. If there are buyers at these levels then I am both amazed and impressed that they must see some underlying value.
