EDS claims that only the next quarter will be weak, not the next few. The Vice Chairman clearly stated on CNBC Wednesday that 1st quarter 1997 should be back to normal. He stated that they've been growing non-GM business at about 25% with the industry average being 15%. Outsourcing should continue with strong growth as more and more companies concentrate on their core businesses. In addition, the 3rd quarter that just closed was one of the strongest in new sales for EDS from what he said. These contracts should start hitting the books (revenues) in 3-6 months as that is the typical lead/lag time.

CNBC had a good piece on yesterday about the kinds of selloffs we've seen based on what appears to be very short term situations. Besides EDS, look at SUNW. They beat estimates by 0.02 and went from 70 to 57 in 3 days. XRX sold of 9-10 points in 1 day.
